Job Title: Electrical Designer/ Engineer

 This role requires experience in the design of electrical systems in HV substations with operating voltages ranging from 12kV to 500kV. Demonstrated experience working with HV and LV design solutions in an electric utility environment, from conceptual stage through construction and commissioning, is essential. 

 Responsibilities:

• Technical design of substations, including equipment layouts, general arrangements, sections, bus & cable calculations, grounding, shielding, lighting, and associated studies.
• Creation and review of material and equipment specifications.
• Preparation of project specifications for equipment and bulk materials, including procurement support.
• Development of substation single-line drawings and calculations for fault calculations, grounding, lightning protection, rigid bus bracing, transformer sizing, transformer arrester selection, insulation coordination calculation, and AC/DC auxiliary system sizing calculations.
• Detailed physical design of substations, including equipment arrangement, bus works, grounding, lightning protection, and associated civil, structural, and mechanical engineering works.
• Preparation of a bill of material for all substation components.
• Identification and specification of materials and equipment required for the design and construction.
• Reviewing designs by external contractors to ensure compliance within scope.
• Ensuring designs adhere to good construction practices and due diligence.
• Providing technical support during construction and commissioning.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Professional Engineer registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists or qualifies for registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Minimum, 4 years of direct experience in substation design, ranging from 12kV to 500kV.
• Proven ability/experience in the above responsibilities.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and 2D/3D design.
• Ability to work in a team environment and develop strong internal and external relationships.
• Time management and organization skills, ability to multitask.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as IEEE and CSA.

Job Title: P&C Designer/ Engineer

 This role requires experience in the design of protection and control systems in electrical utility substations with operating voltages ranging from 12kV to 500kV. Demonstrated experience working with utility P&C design solutions and protection & control systems in an electric utility environment, from conceptual stage through construction and commissioning, is essential. 

Responsibilities: 

• Prepare Protection & Control designs from conceptual to implementation stage for Transmission, Distribution and      Generating stations
• Perform design work in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code
• Developing protection planning and application documents, one-lines, schematics, panel layouts and wiring diagrams for power system protective relaying and metering systems
• Work on reports and calculations and perform site visits
• Performing protection coordination studies and relay settings for high voltage utility transmission systems
• Program Protection & Control devices
• Reviewing or preparing engineering drawings/documents, specifications, construction and outage staging plans, and inspection and testing plans/procedures
• Supporting construction and commissioning activities
• Work collaboratively with other team members to deliver projects

Qualifications:  

• Minimum 3 years of protection, control, and metering experience. 
• Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with the ability to register as a Professional Engineer
• Knowledge and use of different standard protocols like, DNP3, Modbus and IEC 61850 within industry and utility      application is considered an asset

We have an open senior engineering position for an overhead lines engineer with expertise in transmission and distribution lines. The role involves utilizing PLS-CADD and other modelling software to design overhead lines for diverse projects across Canada. The engineer will collaborate with a team of multi-discipline professionals to create high-voltage power systems, encompassing power lines and substations, for both public utilities and private industry. 

Responsibilities: 

• Overseeing a team of engineers and EITs.
• Executing overhead line designs.
• Preparing utility interconnection applications.
• Creating procurement and installation packages.
• Assisting in procurement processes.
• Generating design drawings.
• Drafting energization and commissioning plans.
• Conducting on-site field inspections.
• Supervising power line and interconnection commissioning.
• Engaging with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or structural engineering.
• Professional Engineer registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists or qualifies for registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Minimum, 4 years of direct experience in transmission and distribution line design, ranging from 12kV to 500kV.
